Donald Donald Trump has stated he is hiking tariffs on goods imported from Canada after the region of the Ontario government aired an anti-tariff advertisement featuring ex-President Reagan.

In a social media post on Saturday, Donald Trump called the commercial a "fraud" and criticized Canadian officials for not removing it prior to the World Series.

"Owing to their major distortion of the reality, and aggressive move, I am raising the duty on Canadian goods by ten percent over and above what they are currently paying now," Trump posted.

Following the President on last Thursday pulled out of trade talks with Canadian officials, the Ontario's leader announced he would pull the advertisement.

Ontario Reaction

Ontario Leader the Premier declared on Friday that he would halt his province's anti-tariff commercial series in the United States, telling journalists that he made the decision after discussions with PM Mark Carney "in order that trade talks can restart".

He also said it would continue to air during the weekend, including contests for the World Series, which involves the Toronto team facing the Dodgers.

Commercial Background

Canada is the sole G7 nation that has not secured a arrangement with the US since Donald Trump began attempting to impose high duties on products from major trading partners.

The America has already imposed a 35 percent levy on each Canada's items - though most are free under an existing commercial pact. It has furthermore applied targeted duties on Canada's products, such as a fifty percent levy on metal products and 25% on cars.

In his update, posted while he was en route to Malaysia, Donald Trump indicated he was imposing an additional 10% to those taxes.

75% of Canadian overseas sales are sent to the United States, and Ontario is the location of the majority of the nation's vehicle industry.

Reagan Advertisement Information

The advert, which was sponsored by the provincial government, cites former US President Ronald Reagan, a GOP member and figure of US conservatism, remarking import taxes "harm every American".

The video uses clips from a 1987 radio speech that centered on global commerce.

The Reagan Foundation, which is tasked with preserving the former president's memory, had criticised the advertisement for using "carefully chosen" audio and video and claimed it distorted Reagan's address. It also said the Ontario government had not requested consent to use it.

Ongoing Conflicts

In his message on social media on Saturday, Donald Trump claimed that the advertisement should have been taken down before.

"Ontario's Advertisement was to be pulled IMMEDIATELY, but they let it run yesterday during the World Series, realizing that it was a FRAUD," Trump stated, while flying to Southeast Asia.

the Premier had before promised to air the Ronald Reagan advertisement in each GOP-controlled region in the United States.

Each of the President and Carney will be going to the Southeast Asian summit in Southeast Asia, but the President informed journalists traveling with him on his aircraft that he does not have any "intention" of meeting with his Canada's leader during the visit.

In his post, Donald Trump further claimed the Canadian government of trying to influence an future American high court case which could terminate his whole tariff regime.

The lawsuit, to be reviewed by the American judiciary next month, will rule on whether the import taxes are legal.

On Thursday, Trump also condemned, stating that the commercial was intended to "tamper" with "a crucial lawsuit"

World Series Link

The advertisement is not the sole way that the province – home of the Toronto team – is using the World Series as a opportunity to criticize Trump's tariffs.

In a video published on last Friday, the Premier and California Governor Gavin Newsom jokingly made bets about which club would succeed in the finals.

The two leaders consistently bantered about tariffs in the clip, with Doug Ford vowing to deliver Newsom a tin of Canadian syrup if the LA Dodgers triumph.

"The import tax might set me back a higher price at the crossing these days, but it'll be acceptable," he stated.

In reply, Governor Newsom requested Ford to restart allowing US-made beverages to be available in Ontario alcohol shops, and promised to deliver "California's championship-worthy wine" if the Toronto team win.

They ended their conversation both saying: "Here's to a excellent World Series, and a duty-free friendship between Ontario and the state."
